Something Green

The Inside Track on Wedding Traditions

Unlike fading flowers and yellowing dresses, wedding rings last forever.  In each ring lives the promise of eternal love and fidelity pledged in the words of your vows.  Egyptians first wore wedding rings back in 4000BC most likely made from reeds, bones or leather.  The custom of wearing a ring on the fourth finger of the left hand started there and was adopted by the Greeks and Romans who believed that this finger contained a vein leading directly to the heart, naming it Vena Amoris – Vein of Love.

This shot shows a bride and groom with their fists clenched showing off their wedding rings. The couple's fists are in focus and they are punching towards the camera. Their faces are blurred. The groom is on the left and the bride is on the right. The groom has dark here has a beard. he is wearing a mid-blue waistcoat, a white shirt and a pink tie. The bride is wearing a white dress with short sleeves and lace details and is wearing a veil. The image shows the couple from the chest up.

Whatever the style these days, the meaning remains the same – a symbol of infinity and never-ending love with no beginning and no end.  It doesn’t get more romantic than that!

what3words at The Green

Addresses in the country often don’t point to the right place and they’re not accurate enough to identify a specific building entrance. That’s why we’re using what3words to help you find us easily, it’s an easy way to identify precise locations.  For example, you can find our car park area by entering: proposes.positives.hinted into the free what3words app.  Every 3-metre square has been given a unique combination of three words.

Memories of Spring

Plenty of rain and wind this November but here’s something to lift the mood and remind us of how spring feels.  Laura & Dan married at The Green on a beautiful day in April with the trees in blossom.  After their ceremony in the Wedding Barn they took a stroll down to the lake for a few photos and some time out – what an idyllic photographic setting.
