A day out with the children (and dog) at Pennywell Farm

[text_output]Summer is here and the sun has got its hat on……. Hip hip hip hooray! If you are making the most of this by spending it in Cornwall with your family then you may be looking for somewhere to spend a day out where the kids will enjoy themselves, let’s face it, we might enjoy mooching round the shops, visiting the local National Trust sites and public gardens but the children want to be entertained and sometimes the beach just won’t cut it! Plus, if you tire them out in the day, you get a peaceful evening to yourselves!

If you are happy to drive for 50 minutes from The Green towards Exeter then you will find a real gem of a place called Pennywell Farm. There is plenty to do there with a petting corner, bottle feeding the lambs, pony riding, snuggling the cutest piglets, feeding the goats not to mention the trampolines, the tractor ride, piggy racing, a maze and just in case you still have energy there is also an assault course! You will also find an area with trikes and mini diggers for the younger ones and inside Noah’s picnic and play barn there is a bouncy castle and some quiet play areas for the children who would appreciate a quiet 5 minutes playing with lego or doing some colouring. It has something for everyone.

My top tip would be to take a picnic as the food isn’t as exciting as the farm itself and is a little pricey for what you get. There are plenty of areas to enjoy a picnic and they provide lots of hand washing facilities after all the petting and feeding of the animals.

If you are a family who like to holiday with their dog you will be pleased to know that they offer a free dog kennel service for visitors to Pennywell. This ensures that you all enjoy a fun filled day out in the countryside before coming back to your stunning cottage at The Green to enjoy the last of the days sun playing games out on the lawn with an ice cold drink and a BBQ…………….Perfection.
