The Green Cornwall – Newsletter July 2022

Summer Wedding at The Green

This wouldn’t be a proper summer edition without featuring a summer wedding!  Beth & Dan got married at The Green on June 30th 2022.

Following a relaxed BBQ on the night of arrival, the ceremony took place in the al fresco setting of our Oak Arbour in full summer sunshine.  After walking down the aisle in a cloud of shimmering bubbles, Beth & Dan celebrated with their favourite people enjoying indulgent sharing platters amidst lively chatter and a background of gentle piano melodies.  Additional evening guests created a party atmosphere which included a silent disco in the Really Rustic Barn, limbo dancing and some awesome moves on the main dancefloor before their sparkling departure.

Anyone for Pimms?

Sadly, we’ll have to wait another year now for Wimbledon but there are still plenty of summer pleasures to be enjoyed. Like traditional Summer Pimms, with fruit and paper straws naturally, included as your post-ceremony drinks within our Exclusive Hire package.  And for those with a sweeter tooth, who can resist a mini scone, cream and jam canapé or two – served the Cornish way of course, jam first!

Taster Day

At the beginning of July we hosted another Taster Day as part of our Exclusive Hire package. It’s a great opportunity for couples to try some options from our delicious selection of menus and choose their wedding meals as well as planning décor, adding Green Touches, allocating rooms for their guests and so much more. The Green Team loves welcoming everyone and it’s the perfect time to relax and get to know each other ahead of the celebrations.

Take a look at some of the tempting dishes on offer.

The Inside Track on Wedding Traditions

This month we look at Wedding Bouquets.  Today, brides are carrying peonies, roses and sunflowers down the aisle but back in ancient Greek and Roman times, it was all about herbs. At that time, it was more usual to carry aromatic bouquets of garlic, dill and spices to ward off evil spirits and prevent plague.  Nowadays couples can choose from thousands of dazzling blooms to reflect their personalities, colour schemes and bring a quirky twist to their floral theme.  Queen Victoria carried a bouquet of snowdrops when she married Prince Albert – his favourite flower.  There’s a myriad of meanings in the flowers you choose from honeysuckle symbolizing devotion and everlasting love to eucalyptus for protection and abundance. Talk to your florist for inspiration and create the bouquet of your dreams.
